That is, it continuously awaiting our use. A survey by ISTE has shown that 50 percent of students go online for homework at least once a week(ISTE). This is possible because the web can be used for research and as a resource(Whiteside). There are vast websites and online tutorials they can turn to rather than rely on just their teachers and parents. Information is being consumed faster because it is easy to access. The students learn how to integrate their ideas and are motivated to study. Technology plays an important role in helping students develop educational skills(OccupyTheory). While searching for information on the web, students cultivate critical thinking and problem solving skills. Research has also shown that students who study on mobile devices spend 40 minutes more studying than those who don’t(ISTE). This is probably because they love technology and it is more interesting for them to read on the devices they love. Moreover, e-books hold an incredible potential for innovating students and, such books are contained in ipads,smartphones etc that students carry around. Most people may be wondering how these voluminous books can be read on these devices. They are being modified to the size of the device so that they can be read easily. Being naked and thinking straight were two mutually exclusive conditions in my world. Hector continued to disrobe, slipping off his pants and his shoes, too. I should have listened more carefully. The moon shivered at the tops of the trees. Soon it would spill over and into the clearing. Once the light touched him, he would change. Hector stood next to Damien and beckoned. I had no choice but to go. When I reached Hector’s side, his hand slid over my hip, dipped beneath the shirt, skidded over my ass. I fought not to flinch or gag. I was supposed to be a werewolf. I needed him to believe that, to trust me, or all of us would die. We’d probably die anyway, but at least I had to try. Hector urged me to face him. His hands were everywhere beneath the material. Palm at my belly, then cupping my breast. His arousal pressed against me. He lowered his head and his mouth took mine. I forced myself to respond, open my lips, meet his tongue. I’d done this before – eagerly. It was fit punishment I should do so again before I died. My back was in agony. My stomach roiled. I could shoot close to a dozen, but I decided to save my bullets. There were at least thirty in the clearing. No telling what they’d do or who would need to be shot first. Hector remained a man. Maybe the silver bullet in his chest prevented the change. It wasn’t preventing anything else – like his breathing. I aimed the pistol at his head and Hector laughed. â€Å"You think you can kill me with the usual weapons? I am far too powerful for that. I will heal anything.† As if he’d willed it, the bullet hole slid shut. Blood still glistened on his skin, black beneath the hunter’s moon. Memories assaulted me. Another place, other bodies, different blood. Dizziness threatened, but I bit my lip, focusing on the pain until my vision cleared. Hector reached for me. There was a snarl of warning, and Damien in wolf form knocked him away. Before he hit the ground, Hector had become a great white wolf. The two of them rolled, end over end, struggling for dominance. Hector was bigger, stronger. It didn’t take long before Damien was pinned. I had to do something. No matter how much my hands shook, my heart thundered, my back burned, I had to get close enough to kill him. I took one step in their direction and five wolves blocked my path. I shot the closest one. The silver worked damn good on him. He burst into flames and the others retreated, prancing and whimpering. Hector prepared to tear out Damien’s throat, and I shot him behind the ear. He slumped to the ground. Damien scampered out from beneath him. â€Å"Heal that,† I muttered. Sadly, he began to. There’d been no flame when I shot him, just as there’d been none the first time. As I watched, mesmerized, horrified, his head began to knit together with a slick, sucking sound. Before he healed completely. I turned, fell to my knees, retched. Where was the heap big werewolf hunter now? When the going got tough, looked like I threw up. Suddenly Damien shoved me away. Before I could stop him, he tore a hunk from Hector’s flank and swallowed. The body burst into a fireball. I shielded my eyes, sat back on the ground. Hector’s minions howled, but the sound was far away, not worth worrying about. When the heat diminished, I lowered my arm. Hector was gone. The only thing left was a pile of ashes where his body had been. I sat there for several moments, dazed, uncertain. My back no longer ached and burned. I wondered if the scar had disappeared along with Hector. The clearing was empty except for me, Jessie, Will, and Edward. Damien and all the other wolves were gone. Coca-Cola Company has been involved in cases involving overstaffing. In January 2015, the company was forced to entrench some of its workers in Pakistan due to overstaffing. The problem of overstaffing in Coca-Cola is attributed to the complexity of the organisation. However, measures to improve the situation can be carried out. High recruitment and selection procedure is also required for the staff portrays the skills required in the competent process of selection. When a selection process is conducted in the right way, the best candidates take the job. He/she requires little time and training to adapt to the organisation. In the event of a right selection process, the need for high levels of training would be minimiz ed. Lack of innovation denotes poor selection methods. The employees lack the creativity capacity to initiate new ideas to the organisation. Some of the best practices in recruitment that these companies have adopted include e-recruitments, strategic planning, and recruitment as trainers. On the other hand, the best practices adopted by these organisations concerning selection involve e- learning programs and systems, learning management systems, evaluation of selection and evolvement of the HR office given the mandate of recruitment in the organisation. E Recruitment is one of the emerging trends in the process of recruitment where an organisation establishes a portal system for the application. The system is designed in a way that any detail needed about the applicant shall be obtained. The information filled by a candidate shall then be filled in the database, and then the appropriate action shall follow. Once the details have been submitted, the information can be used at the time or at a later time. The process is different from the current one used in Coca-Cola where candidates send resumes to the organisation. Another process widely used is the recruitment of trainees. Many organisations are involved in programs of management trainees that seek to identify and nurture talents in the training program. The program has been successfully initiated in Ap ple, where interns form a good population. Through the program, an organisation can best pick the best candidates from the trainees. Recruitment from external sources should be embraced just like the recruitment from the inside. As depicted previously, real- time selection and recruitment is needed in Coca-Cola to eliminate irrelevance and unqualified staff. Selection and recruitment needs to be conducted regularly in case there is a need to replace a staff or fill a vacant position. Companies such as Sony and Microsoft always emphasize on the just in time selection and recruitment hence proving its necessity. In addition to that, selection and training need to be incorporated with the current technological management systems to get employees that are technologically qualified for the current market system. Through the system, the organisation can determine the general needs of the organisation in terms of training gaps. Recruitment and selection play a pivotally important role in shaping an effective performance of an organization. If the organization is not able to acquire workers with relevant knowledge, skills, and aptitude, they are not able to make accurate predictions towards their expectations (Gary Ray 2010, P. 171) Recommendations for improvement and change Upon comparison with the best practices of recruitment and selection, the Coca-Cola Company needs to implement the following strategic actions implement e-recruitment strategy Abolish referrals and promotions which inhibit innovations Implement fully the management selection programs Develop a strategic plan for human resource Establish real-time training programs Implement a learning management database system Initiate a program for training of selected workers and establish an evaluation plan for the trainees. Conclusion Recruitment and selection practices must ensure garnering the right people for the job while also ensuring high productivity from them. Any organisation must ensure that its practices are well suited to achieve the stated objectives. As in the case of Coca-Cola, recruitment and selection take place as a normal routine just following the right procedures. However, much is not achieved through recruitment which includes advertisements and selection. There is a need for change in its practices to reach levels that are in standards with the companies that ensure the best practices of recruitment and selection.
